all the universities and technical schools from helsinki were represented...the students carry torches and sing finnish and international songs like gaudeamus igitur - the official student hymn
the parade goes from the cemetery to the senate squre, passing by manerheimentie, esplanaati and in front of the presidential house, where Tarja Halonen, finland's president, is waving on the balcony
